Paul Bunyan Show 2016 Is Here! – This weekend, October 7-9, 2016 will be the 11th year that the Paul Bunyan Show will be held in Guernsey County at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds is located in the village of Old Washington, Ohio, just off Interstate 70, about 6 miles east of Cambridge, at the US40/SR 285 exit. The weathermen are currently predicting a beautiful fall weekend for the show, and the grounds are once again going to be filled up with Exhibitors displaying a wide range of items for sale from the smallest hand held items, to the largest forestry equipment machines on the market. As always, there will be lots of great food, educational presentations and demonstrations, and entertaining competitions like the Log Loader, Ohio and International Lumberjacks, and the Great Firewood Shootout competitions. There will also be some live music on Saturday, and, for the second year, a Log Truck Cruise-In. The show is open from 8am – 5pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9am – 3pm on Sunday. Come on out and see us at this year’s show!
West Virginia Struggles With Loss Of Foresters – As many of you know, the Division of Forestry in West Virginia laid off 39 employees earlier this year due to budget cuts. The article at the following link describes some of the lack of services resulting from the layoff, and the ongoing battle between the foresters, legislators, and the forest industry on how to fund the WV Division of Forestry, so that these layoffs can be reversed, and other looming future layoffs can be halted. http://www.bdtonline.com/news/cuts-to-division-of-forestry-halt-logging-inspections-enforcement/article_ee43b5a6-7e15-11e6-b7e1-2fac7859b3e9.html

How To Use Timbeter's Powerful Storage Module – The Timbeter log measuring App, that we have discussed in other TimberTalk newsletters, is more than just an App. With Timbeter you can store your measurements in our powerful storage module. Then you can filter and sort the data you require and if needed, send it to other parties, reducing the likelihood of disagreements over the measured timber. To learn more about this process, go to the following link. http://www.timbeter.com/blog/how-to-use-timbeter-s-powerful-storage-module/?utm_source=Mailchimp&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Gr001-Ca00003-Blog&utm_content=Storage_Module_Blog .

Also, Timbeter is at the NHLA National Convention this week in Washington, DC. You can see them, and get tips on using their App, if you stop in at Booth 406.

Driving Safely Near Schools – Most schools were back in session by early last month. This means we all have had to get used to stopped traffic because of school buses picking up kids, kids walking, standing, or riding bicycles in or next to roadways, and now the foggy mornings that complicate all of that. Please take a moment to read some safety tips put out by the National Safety Council on how to keep everyone safe during the school year on our roads. These tips can be read at: http://www.nsc.org/learn/safety-knowledge/Pages/back-to-school-safety-tips-for-drivers.aspx
