US EPA Agrees not to require Stormwater Permits on Logging Roads. This past week, the US EPA filed a Notice of Intent not to require Stormwater Discharge Permits on Logging Roads and will continue to use State Best Management Practices approaches to controlling sedimentation from logging roads and harvest operations. However, it remains important to get legislation passed to insure future legal certainty that these approaches work on silvicultural operations across the county. You can read a statement from the National Alliance of Forest Owners on the issue and the continued importance of moving ahead with legislation.
