OFA Year-End Report
As the Ohio Forestry Association wraps up another year, we will be putting together an Annual Report for the membership. It will include statistics on our events, financial position, membership numbers, etc., as well as narrative on the things that OFA was involved in during 2018. You should be getting this report sometime in the next couple weeks via your email account or in the regular mail if we do not have an email account for you. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or thoughts on this report or OFA in general.

Forest Markets Weekly Newsletters
The National Association of State Foresters' Forest Markets Committee releases a Weekly Newsletter full of all things Forestry and Forest Products Industry related. Each week’s newsletter has articles about: Forest Markets, Housing, Working Forests, New Products and Technology, and Renewable Energy. The past two weeks’ newsletter contain an interesting article on how tree resins could replace fossil fuels in many day-to-day products, and several articles on the effects of housing and tariffs on the wood industry. HMA January Newsletter
ATTACHED is the January HMA Link newsletter describing the recent and upcoming activities of the Hardwood Manufacturing Association (HMA). Most of this newsletter is focused on their upcoming National Conference and Expo.

Is Peru Violating Environmental Protections Aimed At Combating Illegal Logging?
We don’t hear a lot about illegal logging here in Ohio or the U.S., but that is different in some other countries. In a recent move, U.S. Trade Representative, Robert Lighthizer, took a first step towards potential sanctions on Peru for possibly violating environmental protections aimed at combating illegal logging. This concern could have ramifications for the new North America free-trade deal. Read the report on this issue as it was presented in the Morning Ag Clips newsletter.

This month, the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation will be covering July 1, 2019 premium adjustment factors, BWC website My Policy page improvements, enrolling in electronic notifications for your policy, important account deadlines, program reminders and their monthly safety tip during their January employer webinar series. See the following info from Ohio BWC to join the seminar in person or by webinar.

Is There A Conspiracy Against Wood Stoves?
