Forest Markets Weekly Newsletters
The National Association of State Foresters' Forest Markets Committee releases a Weekly Newsletter full of all things Forestry and Forest Products Industry related. Each week’s newsletter has articles about: Forest Markets, Housing, Working Forests, New Products and Technology, and Renewable Energy. This week’s newsletter contains an interesting article about The State of America’s Forests by the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities. See this informative website. New Ohio Wildlife Area
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources announced on January 11, 2019, that property for a new wildlife area in Ohio had been purchased. The Eagle Creek Wildlife Area, located in Brown County, was started with the initial purchase of 1825 acres. Later this year, another 474 acres is scheduled to be purchased and the resulting ~2300 acre wildlife area should open to the public later this fall. Mexico Launches Ambitious Forestry, Orchard Plan
This past Friday, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced the launch of an ambitious forestry program to plant nearly 1.5 million acres with fruit and timber trees, as well as cacao and coffee plants. Wayne National Forest Will Extend Comment Period on Sunny Oaks Project Due to Partial Government Shutdown
Due to government employees being on furlough during the comment period for the Sunny Oaks project on the Wayne National Forest, the comment period has been extended till February 14, 2019. See the details in the News Release on this recent development.

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the American Forest Foundation (AFF) have formed a new partnership with the intent to grow the amount of certified family and other small holdings in North America. This will be accomplished by working together on a Small Lands Group Certification Module. Read more on this innovative process in their new release.

Wildlife Food Plot Establishment Workshop
The Noble County SWCD office is hosting a workshop for landowners and wildlife enthusiasts on everything you wanted to know about establishing food plots on your property. The workshop is February 28, 2019 from 6-8 PM. The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required. See all the details.
