Join us for our Opening Reception and Museum tour. The reception will be held at the Jack Nicklaus Museum. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

7:00 pm

Bus departs the Jack Nicklaus Museum to return to the Marriott. The bus will depart approximately every 20 minutes until 8:30 pm

Dana will discuss the Real American Hardwood Promotion, a timely marketing campaign for the Appalachian Hardwood Industry.

Assistant ODNR Director will update the OFA membership on the department’s activities and direction, especially as it relates to Forestry and Wildlife

State of the Division of Forestry – Chief Dan Balser, ODNR Division of Forestry

Chief of the Ohio Division of Forestry will update attendees on the programs and activities of the Division of Forestry.

Matt will update attendees on hardwood trade and consumption trends for the US and Ohio.

Woodland Owner/Timber Trespass and Theft – Jim Savage, Attorney and Ohio Tree Farmer and Mark Rickey, ODNR Division of Forestry

Jim and Mark will discuss the various forms of property ownership and talk about the issue of timber trespass and theft, bringing us up to date on the current happenings in this regard.

Andy will discuss current market conditions and share his insights on what the future holds for Ohio’s hardwood industry.

The Latest with American Chestnut Restoration - Sara Fitzsimmons, The American Chestnut Foundation

There has been a lot of work done to create an American chestnut that is blight free. There have been some recent adjustments in this regard and Sara will be updating us about the current status of restoring the American

Chestnut to the American landscape.

Is It Time to Harvest Your Timber? How do you know? – David Apsley, OSU Extension

Harvests are a key part of managing a woodlands and Dave will be sharing how best to handle this part of managing our woodlands.

Future Markets for American Hardwoods, Mike Snow, American Hardwood Export Council

Mike will discuss current and future markets for American hardwoods.

Forest Carbon Sequestration – Gary Kaster, Forest and Carbon Project Services, LLC and Cassie Ridenour, Ohio Tree Farmer

Climate change and carbon sequestration are much discussed topics and Gary and Cassie will discuss forest carbon sequestration starting with the basics to give us all a better understanding of this subject.
