Conservation Education Grant Program      

“The Ohio Forestry Association Foundation is a charitable, non-profit organization working to promote conservation education and critical awareness of the importance of forest resources to our environment and economy.  Our mission is focused on providing financial, educational, and technical resources to individuals and organizations throughout Ohio."

The Ohio Forestry Association Grant Program is designed to provide funding for activities that align with the above Mission Statement of the OFA Foundation.

These grants will generally be small-scale grants designed to assist an organization with a project, with a maximum individual grant amount of $2,500.

The grants to be awarded will be reviewed and chosen by the OFA Foundation Board of Directors from the applications received. Applications will be accepted between September 15 and October 31 of each year, with grant awards being selected and announced by December 1 for funding to be used in the following calendar year.

Grant applications can be filled out on-line, or the application form can be printed, filled out, and mailed to: Ohio Forestry Association Foundation, 507 Main St., Suite 200, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Examples of past grant recipients include:

  • $750 to support a Wood Art Festival
  • $1000 to help fund development, printing, and distribution of Invasive Species Calendars
  • $1000 to help fund the purchase of a Portable Sawmill for a Natural Resource Class at a Career Center
  • $1000 to sponsor a Forestry Station at a State Envirothon
  • $1000 to help fund an Educational Trip for College Forestry Students
  • $1500 to sponsor a 4-H Woodworking Day at a State Fair

Other Grant Requirements & Information:

Grant Applications for the 2021 funding year will be accepted starting on September 15, 2019 and ending on October 31, 2020. Mailed Applications must be postmarked by October 31, 2020.

Grants for the 2021 funding year will be selected and announced by December 1, 2020.

The Ohio Forestry Association Foundation will provide graphic logo's and other information for promotional opportunities when appropriate.

Grant recipients will be required to provide proof of appropriate use of funds within 30 days after the expenditure of the funds, or the close of the activity for which funds were used, whichever is later. This proof can come in the form of:

  • Copies of paid invoices for supplies
  • Flyers or other publications for an event
  • Photos with descriptions showing the use of the funds as indicated in the application
